Dig, Dream, Drool (delayed)

May 10

i planned to have this post up early this am – but turns out – packing for a quick weekend away, can take a lot out of you.  it’s a lot of details to remember, bubbles to pack (god forbid we leave the house without bubbles).  i’m looking forward to a weekend focused on the 3 of us.  but, like every other mom i know, i’d basically kill for some time alone in my house.  seriously.

in other news – EBN really wants to, “play baseball with the big boys.”  it would be a good first step to teach her how to hold a bat.

moving on:

i’m in need of a girls day at the beach

thinking this would be a good next big project

i wonder if i could make a paleo arnold palmer?  in warm weather, i always crave lemonade

wondering if we could pull off a hammock indoors.  we have the hammock and maybe the basement redesign in the perfect opportunity.

there is nothing as yummy as a good biscuit.

you either get it, or you don’t.

as if i didn’t already love him enough.

and i’m saving this forever and will look at it when i have days when loose all faith in the world.

mothers day gifts have been mailed.  we’re heading out after nap-time, stopping for dinner on the way to sacramento.  we plan to ride the trains and hit up the zoo and spend some time in the hot hot sun.  EBN is especially excited because i told her she’ll be sleeping in a big girl bed.  fingers crossed.

have a wonderful weekend celebrating the mamas in your life!

the kiddo and i headed into the city yesterday to have lunch with ABN. she marked the occasion with a peter pan collar – i chose eye liner. go big or go home.

also…

i was looking for a slip and realized i need everything on the free people website.  but i’d settle for this (and yes, i’d wear pants underneath…promise).

i’m in love with each and everyone of these dresses but especially this one.

i’m making these baked avocado bacon and eggs for breakfast this weekend – ABN is going to be so excited.

loving these adorable birth announcements – and also the name!  for a jewish girl i sure do love a good celtic name.

seeing a recipe like this makes me want to take a paleo break.  it’s not that i’m craving unhealthy food.  this looks so good and so fresh and i want it in my belly.

i love me a good stack (especially in yellow gold).

if you follow me on fb then you know my current crochet project has hit some bumps along the way.  thinking this might be my next BIG project.

next time ABN goes away and EBN and i need a project – we’re taking this head on.

yum.

i get really itchy and scratchy when i think about the possibility of having another kid – until read a post like this one.

i want to kick my sweet family out of the house so i can have a day to myself to make a couple of these.

i mean, have you ever seen anyone do pregnant better?

alright, is that it?  i sorta think i’m tapped.  next week is all about making final arrangements for my sister-in-law’s bridal shower, on saturday in boston.  that’s right friends, i’m heading across the country for a whopping 36 hours.  while it is sure to be a whirlwind i can’t think of anyone better to celebrate.  but before i go, check back next week for a stitch fix update (it’s been SO long but this week i got my favorite.dress.ever.) as well as a photos from our day in the city.

until then,

xo

EBN tried her hand at playing photog

i’d like to start by saying i have not yet seen the season premier of mad men.  i know.  we’re going to watch tonight, or tomorrow at the latest.  it’s been oh so hard to not read the reviews and analysis that have filled my reader over the last week but 2 hours is a very big chunk of time to carve out in a week and ABN and i just haven’t been able to find it…yet.  soon.  ugh.

moving on.

here are some of the things that have been filling my time over the last week:

a perfect cast for the movie version of one of my all time favorite books.

proof that i need a video monitor.

yep, still a fan.

anyone else surprised by how many of the bloggers they follow are mormon? fascinating.

two adorable crochet projects – this and this.

did you celebrate rex manning day?  my calendar is already marked for next year.

a couple of paleo recipes i want to try out – sweet and sweeter.

this could totally happen in our house.

getting in the mood for a home-grown manicure.

i’m in desperate need of a slip – this one is at the top of my list.

love the big lebowski?

a few yummy reminders of why i love sf.

i want to move in. and so does EBN.

our plan is to have a fairly quiet weekend.  so besides spending time together as a family, our plans are limited.  sunday ABN and i are headed out for a shopping date.  he needs clothes and i have a strong opinion.  the outing will end with margaritas and mexican food so we’re both guaranteed a good time.

a little easter egg hunting courtesy of her friend j

i just ate way too much lunch.  ground lamb, with onions, garlic, green beans, red pepper, water chestnuts and cashews cooked in coconut aminos.  it was dinner last night and it was just so yummy i couldn’t cut myself off at lunchtime…oops.

in the meantime:

i love these summer flats – but how do we feel about an ankle strap?

it’s recipes like this that really make me miss greek yogurt.

like i needed another reason to visit target this weekend.

i love this list of musts from trader joes.  but you know what’s missing?  the chopped onion, garlic, scallion mix.  that’s a winner for sure.

i check every day to see if this dress is back in stock.  i think i’ll feel incomplete until it lives in my closet.

while i try to create a world in which passover is full of confetti, this article rings true.

growing up, we celebrated every big day at trader vics in beverly hills.  we had a special way of doing things and just ordered drinks served in fresh pineapples or ceramic skulls and an obscene amount of appetizers.  crab rangoon was my very very favorite and when ABN and i stopped in for drinks this past december i was beyond bummed that the kitchen was already closed for the night – what!?!?  anyway, i’m wondering if these crab wontons are an alternative?  i’m ready to put in the elbow grease.

as if you needed another reason to love bunk.

while we’re on the subject…jews/wire fines – unite!

all of it.

and of course, with my new phone i got a brand new case, but this DIY nail polish case has me itching to create my own.

ABN is off to boston for a few days which means the kiddo and i are on our own (except that BUDDY the hero is staying tonight again on saturday – i’m lucky, i know).  i’ve decided to pack a lot into the next few days – friday we’re off to a jump-house (whatever that means) with a friend and then tomorrow, if the weather is good, i’m thinking the zoo is in our future.  we’re having dinner with a few other mamas and kiddos and then i still have to fulfill the promise of a fairy-princess-dinosaur getup…wish me luck.

can you spot B’Uncle?

i’m sick.  this is like…the least surprising thing EVER.  the only thing less surprising?  i seem to have succumb to the new season of real world (yes, i’m 32 years old.  i totally blame the san francisco marathon that i dvrd this weekend). EBN has a cold too.  she sneezes every 17 seconds and basically, each time, an entire chicken comes out of her nose.  and she screams – kleenex – like if she doesn’t get one immediately she will burst.  other than that – she seems fine (in other words she has slowed down/quit talking/napped for endless hours).  i, on the other hand, feel like complete shit.  it has stopped me in my tracks.  my head feels like it is even bigger than its already enormous size.

in other news – my reader is overflowing and it’s causing anxiety (i can’t even begin to think about the fact that in july google reader will be no more.  i assume we’re all moving over to bloglovin’ but that will need to wait until at least april – i can’t handle one more thing).  for now, a few goodies:

i was a long-time hold out but i’ve been converted, i’m pretty sure lululemon puts drugs (or something) in those pants.  but maybe i should give the new line at TARGET another try.

i’ll take one of each, size 8, thanks!

i seem to be pretty far away from getting a new couch, but maybe some new pillows would do the trick.

WORD.

it’s official, i’m obsessed with ESHAKTI.

when i was in like 8th grade i read a new yorker article about identical twins and i’ve been fascinated ever since.  this is a kickstarter campaign i could really get behind.

adorable mugs.

so excited for the new season – ABN and i have major plans to finish up season 5 this weekend (we got side tracked by the wire).

pretty sure i’ll be making THESE this weekend and loving that every paleo recipe is K FOR P!!!

a ranking of all 27 (!!) real world seasons – this is something i can get behind.  my top three are seattle, london (mostly because i love sharon – remember when she had that GROSS throat thing?) and san francisco (duh).  how about you?

is it time for a hot toddy yet?

i think i forgot to mention that last week EBN and i enjoyed a mahjong date – she knows all her cracks!

you guys, we made it through week 1 of march.  and i blogged every day.  it’s a mini-miracle.  don’t get over excited, it’s sure to be down hill from here but i’m going to take this as a win, none the less.

when not working, crocheting, folding laundry, planning passover, neglecting my husband and raising a toddler, i’ve been thinking or obsessing about the following:

i knew all my fears about flying were totally rational.

if i can’t hang art above my bed, because we live in earthquake country and i’m married to someone who is responsible, maybe we could make the wall, itself, a piece of art.

is it because i grew up in the ’90s that i think there is no better style than a baby doll dress and combat boots?

did you guys watch saturday morning tv on nbc?  and i’m not talking cartoons.

i’m sure many of you have seen this floating around the web, but i found this video on inequality absolutely shocking.

and finally, just one more thing i want to do in preperation for passover.

somehow my brother convinced me to watch the wire.  has there ever been a more depressing show?  but i just can’t seem to quit it.  by the time you read this, i’ll be through with season 3.  i’m pretty sure things aren’t going to end well…
