loving: working as a consultant. not only do i find the work i am doing interesting and challenging, but i care deeply about the organizations that i am supporting and it feels so good to be working to make just a small difference in the world. there were many many many benefits that were part of my time working in the for-profit world. but, working for non-profit organizations is really where my heart is. it’s what i know. and it’s good to be back. not being on call 24/7 isn’t bad either
.
reading: speaking of my past work, i just finished Then Came You (which i checked out from the library – i can’t remember the last time i did that). it was fun and fast and not at all what i know to be true about fertility and egg donation and surrogacy – professional that i am…was. but whatever. i assume books about detectives aren’t 100% accurate either. i’m currently catching up on vanity fair (i’m so behind which i find…see below) and then i have a (gasp) another library book - Super Sad True Love Story. have you read it? i’ve heard pretty good things – i’ll let you know.
watching: Nashville. it’s my one new show. and it is so so so so good (i should say, i’ve only watched the first episode, but i fall in love quickly). i have a huge girl crush on CONNIE BRITTON – i mean, duh.
(slightly) stressing about: see above. i don’t know why being behind in my magazine reading causes stress in my life – but it totally does. i know, i know – life is tough. but it keeps me up at night. also, that my kid doesn’t sleep. no biggie.
looking forward to: halloween! weird. i’m so not a halloween person but, this will be EBN’s first real halloween (she may not remember participating, but she will be participating) and we’ve got lots planned. from a baby halloween party at our place to briefly trick-or-treating on the 31st, to a party with the neighbors next weekend, we’re going all out. i’ve got to get my butt into gear. luckily EBN’s costume is done and done (thanks mom for saving everything i ever owned). but this mama has to put something together for herself and it would be great if the house looked the part too. ABN is on his own on this one – i can only be responsible for so much.
looking forward to: a time when EBN again sleeps through the night (molars are such a bitch), my upcoming trip to boston, EBN’s 2nd birthday, my new boots arriving in the mail, getting a hair cut, eventually eating sugar (i promise a paleo update tomorrow, for real), the giants game tonight and the new season of project runway all-stars
.
these posts are the best way for me to give you all a picture of our real, day to day life. thanks, as always, to DANIELLE, for getting me started.
xo,
LBN
