The Time Has Come

Aug 31

the dresses have arrived!  and it’s time to make a freaking decision.  quick review: i’m heading to the wedding in just a week (time is really of the essence) and i’m trying to figure out what to wear.  it’s a lakeside wedding where sundresses for ladies and shirts and ties for gentleman are preferred.  i ordered more than a few dresses from MODCLOTH after your help narrowing down my ORIGINAL LIST last week.

the good news is i’ve narrowed it down even further – dress #1 which i loved was just about 6 times too big (sad).  and dresses #7 and #10 are out as well (i don’t like the neck line on 7, and the length and flair of the skirt is weird – and 10, it turns out is a satin material and just all wrong for this occasion).

where does that leave us – still confused.  please excuse the messy hair, poor quality photos and piles of laundry – we’re in a bit of a time crunch.  here’s what we’ve got to consider:

blue polka dots:

love the fit, the color and the back! it’s not lined which isn’t my first choice, but the fabric does have some weight to it.

pink flowers:

i get it, this one isn’t the most figure-flattering, but, can we just discuss the twirl potential?

stripes:

the fit of this one is good and it looks ok with my boots, but i can’t get past the neckline and i sorta feel like i should join the circus

and just because i tend to obsess, i’m including a couple of possibilities that are already in my closet

embelished neck:

this is the original dress i decided i would wear, from STITCH FIX.  i’ve fallen back in love – it’s comfortable and cute.  it’s fancier than the others, but…i’m sorta fancy.

red lace:

again, looks great with my boots but, it’s short, and i think i need to add a belt

hawaiian:

this dress has gotten quite a bit of wear, but it’s tried and true – boots not an option

and finally, my very favorite most perfect dress, it’s romantic, has a vintage feel and works with boots

crochet ballerina:

but, it’s cream, and as much as i love it, it’s not an option for a wedding…right?

so there you go.  that’s it.  can you please vote?  vote now, vote often (okay, no need to vote more than once…but if you find yourself bored over the weekend, send this link to your besties and ask them to weigh in too).  my goal is to put dresses that i’m not keeping back in the mail on tuesday, so voting will close monday night at 11:59pm – to be precise.

we’re heading south, for the blink of an eye, to celebrate my PAPA JOE’S 95th birthday.  i’ll be back next week with a full update as well as some sorta big news to share.

in the meantime, enjoy your LONG weekend!

i might have to get that dress too, I think we might have similar shape, short waist, longer in the legs proportionately and neck and sleeve cuts are critical, also I like the back to show my sun:O)
