Out of the Office
Aug 21
first, can we just acknowledge the fact that in january i will have been working from home, fulltime, for 3 years! how did that happen? time flies, man.
i’ve spent much of the last 3 years trying to find the perfect place to work. i do have an almost perfect home office. i never did finish decorating – it’s sure to be relocated in the next couple of years if and when we decide to do this whole baby thing again – and it just seems like a lot of work to make it perfect now. and it shares a wall with EBN which means, i can’t be on the phone while she’s sleeping. not a huge part of my job is spent on the phone, but i do save those calls that i have to make for the hours she is snoozing. anyway…i’m talking about the perfect place to work outside the home. a place where i can go each monday when BUDDY comes to watch EBN and i get the hours from 9-5 to exclusively work.
so what goes into a perfect work location – more than a few things: power outlets, reliable wireless, tables that seat more than 2 people (i tend to need to spread out), good coffee, easy parking, enough seating that i can stay all day without feeling like people are watching me – waiting for me to give up a great seat, a quiet atmosphere – but not so quiet that i can’t take a phone call, out door space (so that i can continue said phone call), beer (if i’m going to be there all day…), sandwiches served on good bread, comfy seating (if you sit that long, the tush tends to get sore), a clean bathroom…
over the years i’ve found a few places that partially fit the bill, but nothing that met all of my needs – until now. enter PROGRESSIVE GROUNDS in bernal heights.
everything that i need plus an outdoor patio and grilled lavash wraps that i didn’t even know that i wanted
it’s not everyday that you find absolutely everything that your heart desires…
