when P'pa comes to visit he makes bagels - and brings homemade gingersnaps and potato chip cookies. lucky us!
when you’re not in school and you don’t live with someone who is in school there isn’t always a significant marker of when summer starts and stops. this is especially true living by the beach – we have no air conditioner to turn on or turn off, EBN sleeps in pajamas with feet year round and our flowers are always blooming. don’t hate – but it is pretty amazing. that being said, now that the 4th of july is through, i realize that this summer is quickly getting ahead of me and i’m trying hard to keep up. here are just a couple of updates:
summer reading: well, i sure did start off with big plans. but, as is often the case, work, sleep, crochet, life has gotten in the way and now, almost two weeks into july, i’ve just crossed my first read off the list. oops. and while i still want to read all the books on my initial list, i’ve added a few and rearranged others. i just requested UNORTHODOX from the library (could there be anything better? only if this books happens to include a lot of sex) and i really want to read THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. i’m always evolving, what can i say. the good thing about summer having no official end means that i can just keep on reading books off this list…right? i make the rules.
poop: you knew it was coming but, i have good news to report – tentatively. it’s possible that some of the pooping issues had to do with mama error. it seems that although i thought i had been using overnight pampers i was in fact simply using pampers, at night time. not the same thing. from day 1 we’ve used seventh generation during the day and pampers at night. i guess i just assumed. mama fail. so now we’ve switched to proper overnight diapers and i am happy to report so far, so good. it should be noted that EBN has not actually pooped at night since i made the switch but it’s a victory either way. thank you all for your suggestions although i do have to say – you all suggested various containment methods and i’d really rather change the time at which she pooped because in my mind, waking up to poop, no matter how contained, really isn’t so fun. i know the world is not perfect but we all have our dreams and mine, apparently, involve my child pooping when it is most convenient. priorities.
WWPLD: i’m happy to report i’ve been doing pretty well with living within my own self imposed budget. there has been a lot less shopping over the last few months. i’ve been getting my fix (hehe) with my monthly STITCH FIX shipment and through that i’ve really been adding quality rather than quantity to my wardrobe. i did have a little episode at EDDIE BAUER of all places (i think i was 12 the last time i shopped there) but i spotted a jean jacket in the window last week when ABN gave me the afternoon off and then when i went inside it turned out they were having a massive sale AND their stuff was really cute. 4 tank tops, a skirt and a $10 pair of jeans that i then got hemmed for another $25 later i had made a pretty significant dent in my monthly budget but, progress is progress and i haven’t spent any other clothing money since may. we’re also really taking the time to enjoy where we live – lot’s of time spent outside walking and hiking and blowing bubbles. and trying to slow down when we can although in reality, that is probably the part of the pacifica lifestyle that i struggle with the most.
